Know Ye that for diverse good causes & considerations but more especially for & in Consideration of his Transportation of ten persons to dwell within our Colony of Virginia whose names are Wm Duglass, Ann Smith, Francis Constable, Ann Barker, John Gavin, Lucy Winfield, Anne Bromwell, Anne Smith, John Durram, & Alex Goodgroome WE have given, granted & Confirmed & by these presents for? and our heirs & successors do Give, Grant & Confirm unto Robert Hodge of this County of Isle of Wight one sertain tract or parcel of land containing five hundred acres lieing & being on the south side of the main blackwater swamp in the sd. County of Isle of Wight & bounded as followeth to wit, beginning at a red oak a corner tree of Wm Daw's land then by Daw's line south forty degrees west eleven pole to a red oak then south fifty five degrees west ninety two pole to a white oak then south seven degrees east one hundred sixty eight pole to a white oak then south east one hundred & thirty two pole to a pine then south four degrees east sixty two pole to a pine then north eighty two degrees east one hundred thirty three pole to a hickory then north sixteen degrees west one hundred fifty four pole to a pine then north sixty degrees east one hundred & thirty six pole to a red oak by the edge of Charters branch then down the run of the said branch to Captain Luke Havield's line & then by his line northwest eighty two pole to a hickory saplin & the same course - eighty two pole further to a white oak in Wm Daw's line, then by his line west one hundred & thirty four pole to the first station. with all &c. To have hold &c. To be held &c. Yeilding & paying &c. Provided &c. In Witness &c.
