ISLE OF WIGHT COUNTY, VA - DEEDS - Mathew TOMLIN [TOMLYN] & wife Mary to John JOHNSON 13 Aug 1687 Deed of Bargain & Sale ----¤¤¤---- [p.] 569 The following Pages are Transcripts from one of y.e Antient Record Books w.ch by reason of great Age is Unbound and fallen to Peices wherefore to Preserve them from Danger of being Lost they are here Incerted. - ______________________________________________________________________ [...] [p.] 570 [margin note] TOMLIN to J.n Son Deed Know all Men by these Presents I Mathew TOMLIN of the Lower Parish of the Isle of Wight County in Virginia have for a valuable Consideration to me in hand paid before the Sealing & Delivery hereof by John JOHNSON of the Parish & County afores.d Bargained Sold and do hereby for me my Heirs Executors & Administrators for ever Bargain Sell and Deliver Enfeoff and Confirm unto the said John JOHNSON his Heirs & Assigns for ever a certain Parcel of Land containing Two Hundred Twenty Five Acres being Scituate in the Parish & County aforesaid and commonly called Pigneck the said Parcel of Land being thus Bounded Beginning at a Marked Gum Thomas HARRIS's Corner Tree in the Head of a Branch by the Edge of a Pocoson thence by the Pocoson Side North four Degrees & one half Westerly a Hundred Forty Two Pole to a Pine, then West a Quarter of a Point Southerly two Hundred & sixteen Pole to a small red Oak Sapplin a little above the Head of a Small Branch being Mary TURNER's Corner Tree, thence down the said Branch to a Greater and down that 'till it meets or joins w.th another at the very Bottom of the Neck, both these Branches divide this Land from the Land of Mary TURNER afores.d Thence up the other Branch which divides this Land from the Lands of Thomas HARRIS abovementioned to the Place where it began To Have and to Hold the said Parcel of Land with his due share of all Mines & Minerals therein contained together with all Houses Orchards Gardens Woods Ways and Waters with Priveledge of Hunting Hawking Fishing & Fowling and all other Proffitts Commodities & Hereditaments whatsoever to the said Land belonging or any wise appertaining to him the said John JOHNSON and to his Heirs & Assigns for ever in as full & ample Manner to all Intents & Purposes as I my Self might or could have Enjoyed the same by Virtue of a Patent to me granted for Twelve Hundred & Twenty Seven Acres whereof this is part [PB7:510] And I do also hereby Covenant Declare and Promise to and with the said JOHNSON his Heirs & Assigns that the said Parcel of Land and every Part thereof is at this present Clear & Free from all & all manner of former Bargains Sales Jointures Judgements Executions and all other Incumbrances whatsoever And that I at the Time of Sealing & Delivery hereof of a good, firm & Indefeizable Estate in Fee of and in all and singular the P/mises And I do hereby Oblidge my Self my Ex.rs Adm.rs to Warrant and Defend this my Sale to the s.d JOHNSON his Heirs & Assigns for ever against all manner of Persons whatsoever when thereunto required And give to him or any of them such further & lawful Assurance of the P/mises as by his or their Learned Council shall be thought fitt, And acknowledge this Deed together with my Wife's Relinquishment of the Right of Dower to the Land herein mentioned and conveyed the next Court to be held for the Isle of Wight County first above mentioned In Witness of all which I have together with my Wife hereunto put my Hand & Seal the 13.th of August 1687 ~ Signed Sealed & Delivered Mathew : TOMLIN.
