To all &c  Whereas &c Now Know yee that I the Said S.r William BERKELEY doe 
with the Consent of the Councill of State Accordingly give and grant unto 
Christop.r LEWIS four hundred Acres of Land lying at blackwater 
Upon the Eastermost branch thereof poynting Up to Chipoakes Creeke 
in the County of James City bounded Viz.t 
South Upon the Land of Francis ENGLAND 
North Upon the Said Swamp 
East and West into the Maine Woods 
the Said Land being due Unto the Said Christop.r LEWIS by and for the 
Transportation of Eight persons into the Colony all Whose Names are in records 
Mentioned Under this patent 
To have and to hold &c 
to be held &c 
Yielding &c which payment is to be Made Seven yeares after the Date hereof &c 
Dated y.e 4.th day of July 1649~
