Indenture made November 3, 1740 between John Lewis of the Isle of Wight 
County in Virginia and Benjamin Hill of Bertie, for 12 pounds Virginia 
currency land in Bertie whereon my father Thomas Lewis formerly lived on 
which land the said Thomas bought of Daniel McDaniel by patent bearing date 
March 9, 1717 adjacent to Beaver Dam Swamp, mouth of Spring Branch 
containing 410 acres.
Witnesses: Alex'r McCullock, William Mannsell and Sarah McCullock
Received from Benjamin Hill 12 pounds current money of Virginia being the 
consideration men't for the within bargained premises. November 3, 1747
