VA Isle of Wight Co., VA, Deed Book 31, p. 82 11 Jan 1832 Thomas MOUNTFORD to Joseph MOUNTFORD [margin notes] MONTFORT to MONTFORT} Deed Examined This Indenture made and entered into this 11th day of January 1832 between Thomas MONTFORD of the county of Isle of Wight and State of Virginia of the one part and Joseph MONTFORD of the county and State aforesaid of the other part, Witnesseth that the said Thomas MONTFORD doth for and in consideration of the sum of two hundred dollars current money of the State aforesaid to him in hand paid by the said Joseph MONTFORD the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, have granted, bargained & sold and by these presents doth grant bargain, sell release, ratify and confirm unto the said Joseph MONTFORD his heirs and assigns forever: One certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the county and State aforesaid containing by estimation one hundred and twenty eight & a half acres be the same more or less and bounded as follows, to wit, begining at a spanish oak a new corner tree adjoining Willis ELEY thence an Eastward course along a line of marked trees to a small pine another new corner adjoining Elisha GAY on an old Hedge now thence along said GAYs line, and thence along Exum ELEY's line and Gilbert ELEYs line, John B. ELEYs line, and Willis ELEYs line to the spanish oak the begining and first station, it being one half the land which Zebulon ELEY sold to said Thomas and Joseph MONTFORT reserving in the deed the life of Lemuel LOWE & Lucy his wife.- To have and to hold the said land and every part thereof with all and singular its appertenances unto the said land belonging or in any wise appertaining unto the said Joseph MONTFORT his heirs & assigns forever the right & title to said land with its appertenances unto the said Joseph MONTFORT & his heirs forever the said Thomas MONTFORT doth for himself & his heirs warrant and forever defend against the claim of all and every other person or persons whatsoever.- In Evidence whereof the said Thomas MONTFORD hath hereunto set his hand & seal the day and year first above written- Thomas MONTFORD *Seal* X his mark Signed sealed & ackn.d} In presence of us } Exum ELEY Hartwell POWELL X his mark William H.
