This Indenture Made the 15th day of December in the year of our lord one 
thousand Eight hundred and forty three  Between Henry MUMFORD of the County of 
Isle of Wight and State of Virginia of the first part, and Lemuell VAUGHAN of 
the Same County and State of Virginia of the second part, and John B. JENKINS 
and William BLANCHARD of the County of Southampton  and State of Virginia of 
the Third part, 
Whereas the Said Henry MUMFORD is Justly Indebted to William H. VAUGHAN, 
administrator of John DARDEN dec.d in the sum of Twenty Dollars 68 cents due 
by note Bearing date the 14th day of December and due Nine months after date 
and due the 14th day of September until paid as per Bond of of [sic] this date 
will more fully appear, which debt with the interest the said Henry MUMFORD is 
willing and desirous to Secure the payment of the Bond and its interest that 
the said John B. JENNKINS and William BLANCHARD is Security, his 
     Witnesseth for and in consideration of the sum of one dollar to him in 
hand paid by the said Lemuell VAUGHAN at or before the ensealing and delivery 
of these presents and receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, that he the said 
Henry MUMFORD hath given granted bargined and Sold and by these presents doth 
give grant bargin and sell unto the Said Lemuell VAUGHAN his heirs and assigns 
five Head of Cattle 
one bay Mare 
one bay Horse 
two Sows and Pigs 
three stacks Two thousand pounds, Blad fodder 
on Cart and Wheels, 
Twenty Barrells, of Corn 
Household and Kitchen furniture 
Farming utensils &c. 
the said Lemuell VAUGHAN shall as soon as Conveniently Can after the note 
shall fall due; Notice first having ben given from the said John B. JENKINS 
and William BLANCHARD

and having advertised the time and place of Sale by these several 
advertisements one of which Shall be posted up at the Court House door of Said 
County one Some One Court day previous to the day of sale shall proceed to 
Sell to the highest bidder for ready Money and out of the money arising from 
Such Sale first Defray all necessary expenses, attending the sale and then pay 
to the said John B. JENKINS & William BLANCHARD the debt aforesaid with its 
Interest also the amount of damages (if any) which they may sustain by being 
security to the Bond.
