VA Isle of Wight Co., VA, Deed Book 21, p. 413 15 Nov 1813 William MOUNTFORD to Lemuel LOWE [margin note] MUNFORD & wife to LOW Ex.d This Indenture made and entered into this fifteenth day of November one thousand eight hundred and Thirteen between William MOUNTFORD and Dorey his wife of the one part and Lemuel LOW of the other part all of the county of Isle of Wight and state of Virginia Witnesseth that the said William MOUNTFOORD and Dory his wife for and in consideration sum of Seventy dollars by the said Lemuel LOWE to them the said William MOUNTFOORD and Dorey his wife in hand paid have bargained and sold and doth by this Indenture bargain sell alien and convey unto the said Lemuel LOWE a certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the county and state aforesaid containing by estimation sixty acres be the same more or less and bounded as follows Viz begining a gum a corner tree standing in a branch between the said William MOUNTFOORD and the land known by the name of Black water Bridge land, thence a line of marked trees to a bearch a corner tree between said Wiliam MOUNTFOORDs and said Tract of land & lands by the side of black Water Run, thence down said black water Run to the mouth of a branch, thence up said branch to the first station with the reversion and reversions, remainder and remainders, rents, issues and profits to the only proper use and behoof of him the said Lemuel LOWE and his heirs forever- To have and to hold the said Tract or parcel of land with all and singular its appurtenances unto the said Lemuel LOWE and his heirs forever, and the said William MOUNTFOORD and Dorey his wife doth for themselves their heirs &.c warrant and by thesepresents forever defend the right and title of said land to the said Lemuel LOWE and his heirs forever, from the claim of themselves or any other person or persons whatsoever,- In Winess whereof they the said William MOUNTFOORD and Dorey his wife doth hereunto set their hands and affix their seals the day and date above mentioned- William MOUNTFOORD *seal* Dory MOUNTFORD *seal* X her mark Signed sealed & acknowledged} in presence off ~ ~ } John WHITFIELD (as to him) Shadrach GRIFFIN } Lucy WHITFIELD } Isle of Wight County May the 21st 1814.
