Know all men by these p'sents 
that I Edmond PALMER of the Isle of Wight County in Virginia house Carpenter & 
Alce my Wife doe for us o.r heires &c make over bargaine sell & alienate unto 
Jn.o PORTIS of the same County his heires Ex.rs or Assignes a parcell of Land 
scituated lyeing & being in the afores.d County bounded as followeth, 
begining att Nicholas COBB's ["Cobbs,"] head lyne of marked Trees 
& from thence to Thomas TOOKE's ["Tookes"] lyne of marked trees, 
and soe along to Anthony MATHEW's ["Mathewes"] lyne of m'ked trees, 
and soe Joyning to y.e Land y.t y.e said John PORTIS did buy of Rob.t BURNETT 
w.ch parcell of Land is taken out of A Pattent conteyning Nine hundred Acres 
of Land [21 Jun 1662, PB5:386-87] 
togeather w.th all rights priveledges & royaltyes w.t soever 
To have & to hould to him y.e s'd John PORTIS his heires Ex.rs or Assignes for 
ever w.th gen'all warranty ag.t any P/sons to any P/te or parcell thereof 
for w.ch wee the s'd Edmond & Alce doe acknowledge o.r selves fully sattisfied 
before the sealing & deliv'y hereof 
And for a full confirmaçon hereof wee doe oblidge o.r selves to acknowledge 
this o.r voluntarie Act & deed att the next Co.rt to be held in the Isle of 
Wight County 
As witness o.r hands & seales this 18.th of August 1673
