To all to whome this concerne I John ASKEW have bargained an sould unto M.r 
Nicholas SMYTH of y.e Pagan Point in y.e Isle of Wight County five Heiffers, 
whose markes are hereunder written, and doe warr.t y.e s'd Heifers to the s'd 
SMYTH & his Assignes for ever w.th out any molestaçon or troubl of any P/son 
or P/sons whatsoever, lawfully claymeing by or under me, 
And for the said Cattle I the s'd ASKEW doe acknowledge to have rec'ed Sixteen 
hundred pounds of Tobaccoe, in consideraçon thereof 
And further I the s'd ASKEW doe promise to look after the s'd Cattle and their 
increase as carefully as if they were my owne, for & in consideraçon of the 
Milke 
as witness my hand underneath the m'kes of the said Cattell, hereunder 
written, 
One Black Heiffer w.th A Crop & slitt, & A peice cutt out underneath the left 
Ear And y.e same m'ke on the s'd Right, 
One Black Heiffer w.th A Whe[?] Belly in part

The Lower end of her tayle, White, & the left Ear Cropt, 
One Black Heiffer w.th four white feet, the end of her Tayl White, & White 
under her Belly, 
One Red Heiffer w.th A White Belly & part of her Tayl White, A Starr in her 
forehead, and A speck of White under her Throat, 
In witness whereof, I have hereunto sett my hand this 2.d day of Jan.ry 1670
