Know all men by these P'sents, that I Matthew TOMLIN of the lower P'ish of the Isle of Wight County in Virg.a Planter for and in Consideration of the Naturall love and affection that I Bear to my Brother John TOMLIN and divers other good Causes & Considerations me hereunto moveing Have given and granted and do hereby for me my heires Ex.rs and Adm.rs for Ever freely fully and absolutely give Grant and Confirme unto my said Brother and to his heires and assignes for Ever a Certaine P'cell of land conteyning two hundred and twenty Acres ["being part of a patten of Seven hundred twenty Seven acres" inserted] granted to my father bearing date Apr:l 29.th 1686 [PB7:510] being the old plantation whereon my father and grandfather lived Scituate on the blackwat:r branches in y.e P'ish and County aforesd the said two hundred and twenty Acres being thus bounded on the south side by a Swamp that parts itt from the land of W.m BRIDGES and the land formerly belonging to John SMITH and from the Swamp by a line of by a line of [sic] Markt trees that parts itt from the land of William WESTRAY and Jn.o TOURNER then along a great Branch on the North side that parts itt from the land of Thomas HARRIS and so Continueing along the said Branch to the Swamp first mentioned to Have and to hould y.e said 220 Acres of Land after the decease of my mother w.th his due Share of all Mines and Minerals therein contained w.th all Rights and priviledges of hunting Hawking fishing and fowleing w.th all Woods waies waters together w.th all profitts commodities and Hereditam.ts w.tSoev:r to y.e Said land belonging or in any Wise Appurtaining to him my s'd Brother John TOMLIN and his heires and assignes for Ever in as firme and ample Manner to all intents and purposes as I my self might or Could have Enjoyed the same by Vertue of the before recited or otherwise as the most learned in the law can devise and I do hereby Pledge my self to Acknowledge this Deed in Open Court to be held for the Isle of Wight County abovesaide in testimony of all which I have hereunto put my hand and seal this 20.th Jan.ry 1712/13 Mathew TOMLIN seal Signed Sealed and Delivered in y.e P'sence of Us/ John JOHNSON his Tho:s H HARRIS marke Jenkin DORMAN Isle of Wight Co., VA, Record of Wills, Deeds, Etc., Vol. 2 (1661-1719), p. 233 The Library of Virginia, Isle of Wight Co.
