ISLE OF WIGHT COUNTY, VA - DEEDS - Henry TURNER to Thomas UZZELL, 15 Mar 1714 ----¤¤¤---- [p.] 258 This Indenture made the fiveteenth day of March in the thirteenth Year of the Reigne of our Sovereigne Lady Anne by the grace of God of Great Brittaine France and Ireland Queene defender of the faith &c: Anno Dom' Seventeen hundred and thirteen [1713/4] between Henery TOURNER of the Lower P'ish of Isle of Wight County Yeoman of the one part and Thomas UZZELL of the P'ish and County afores'd of the other part Witnesseth that the afores'd Henry TOURNER for the Valuable Consideration of Five thousand pounds of Tbb:o to him in hand paid by the said Thomas UZZELL the Receit whereof he the said Henry TURNER do hereby Acknowledge and for him his heires Ex.rs and Adm.rs do by these presents likewise Acquitt Exonerate and discharge the said Thomas UZZELL his heires Ex.rs Adm.rs and Assignes for Ever Hath given granted bargained aliened Sold Leased and made over And the said Henry TURNER for him his heires &c: do by these p'sents give grant bargaine Alien sell lease and make over unto the said Thomas UZZELL his heires and Assignes all that plantation and two P'cells of Lands both lying and being in the Afores'd Lower P'ish of Isle of Wight County Scittuated upon the Cyprus Swamp the first being a P'cell of Land Granted by patten to William BODY as by the sa'd patten relation being thereunto had may fully, and at large doth and may Appear and by the said William BODY [page break] [p.] 259 Conveyed to Henery TURNER as by deed Dated the tenth of March which was in the Year of our Lord Christ 1683/4 fully and att Large doth appear begining att a Little spanish Oake a Corner tree Standing on the Westward Side of the Cyprus swamp from thence by a line of Markt trees to Another Red Oake a Corner tree of Thomas JOYNERs land thence Runing along Thomas JOYNERs line to a Markt White Oake thence with a line of markt Trees to a spanish Oake markt a Corner tree standing on the Westward side of the Afores'd Cyprus Swamp and from thence up the Cyprus Swamp to the first Station Containing by Estimation fifty Acres be itt more or less and allSo Another P'cell of Land lying and being in the P'ish and County afores'd and Scituate upon the North side of a branch Called the Beaver dam branch begining at the mouth thereof and Runing up the the [sic] same to the Land of Thomas JOYNER Sen.r and So along his line to a line that parts his land from William BODIEs being allSo the Said TURNERs Owne line [written over erasure] thence along the sa'd line to Another White Oake a Corner tree of William BODDIEs standing on the South side of the Beaver dam branch thence to a spanish Oake Standing by the Cyprus swamp a Corner tree of the Land of William BODDY and thence downe the Cyprus swamp to the first Station Containing by Estimation fifty Acres be itt more or less To have and to hold unto the S.d Thomas UZZELL his heires and Assignes all both the aforesd Messuages lands Tenements hereditaments and all other the premises herein or hereby before bargained and sold or meant Mentioned or intended herein or hereby before barga'ned and sold and Every part and P'cell thereof w.th theire and Every of theire Appurtenances unto the said Thomas UZZELL his heires and Assignes from the day Next before the day the day Next before the day [sic] of the date of these presents for and dureing and untell the full End and Terme one Whole Year Next Ensuing and fully to be Compleat and Ended Yeilding and paying therefore the fee Rent of one pepper Corne on the last day of the said Terme if the Same shall be lawfully demanded to the intent and purpose that by virtue thereof and of the Statute for transferring Uses into possession the said Thomas UZZELL may be in Actuall possession of the said Messuages land and premises hereby bargained and Sould and be thereby Enabled to Accept and take a grant and release of the Reversion and inheritance thereof to him the [said] Thomas UZZELL his heires And Assignes for Ever In Witness whereof the said Henry TURNER hath hereunto Sett his hand and fixed his Seal the day and Year first Above Written ~ // (Raced out before Signed & Sealed) his marke Henry T TURNER (Seal) Signed Sealed and Delivered In P'sence of us // Henry T TURNER his marke Thomas FLOYD T his marke John LONG At a Court held for the Isle of Wight County the 26.th Day of Aprill 1714/ Henry TURNER came into Court presented and Acknowledged this his Deed unto Thomas UZZELL and it is Admitted to Record Test H. thing by him done committed or willing suffered to the Contrary now is the lawfull owner of the said hereby granted and released lands and p'mises and Every part and P'cell thereof w.th theire and Every theire Appurtenances and is and Standeth Lawfully and rightfully Seized thereof of a good and Absolute Estate of inheritance in fee Simple w.th out any manner of trust[?] proviso Contingens[?] heires and Assignes free and freely Clear and clearly acquitted Exonerated and discharged of and from all and all manner of former and other gifts grants leases uses wills annuities Judgments bonds Entails forfitures rents and Arerages of rents and other incumbrances of what Nature and Kind soever had made committed done Acknowledged by the said Henry TURNER or any other party by his privily
