PINHORNE This Indenture made this first day of May Eighteen hundred and forty five, between Elisha UZZELL and his wife Ann UZZELL of the one part and Thomas U PINHORNE of the other part Witnesseth, that the said Elisha UZZELL and wife Ann UZZELL in consideration of the sum of one hundred and fifty dollars to him in hand paid before the sealing and delivery of the indenture (the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged) have granted, bargained, and sold and by these presents do grant, bargain, sell & convey unto the said Thomas U PINHORNE his heirs and assigns forever, one certain tract or parcel of land in the County of Isle of Wight & State of Virginia, which belonged to Thomas UZZELL junior at the time of his death & which Lands are bounded by the lands of Mary HALL, Jesse PARKER, Jos. B WHITEHEAD & Uzzell's meeting house, Containing by estimation one hundred and eighty five acres more or less which lands belonged to Thomas UZZELL senior, then to Thomas UZZELL junior & to the said Elisha UZZELL, To have and to hold the said tract of land with the appurtenances to the same belonging to the said Thomas U PINHORNE and his heirs forever, free from the claims of him the said Elisha UZZELL and his heirs forever. In witness whereof the parties to these presents hereunto set their hands and seals the day & year above written. Elisha UZZELL *seal* Ann UZZELL *seal* State of Tennessee (to wit) We Alfred FLEMING and Hiram ANTHONY justices of the peace in the county of Maury and state of Tennessee do hereby Certify that Elisha UZZELL and his wife Ann UZZELL parties to a certain deed hereto annexed and bearing date the 1st day of May 1845, personally appeared before us in our said county and acknowledged the same to be their act & deed and desired us to certify the said acknowledgement to the clerk of the county court of Isle of Wight in order that the said deed may be recorded. We Alfred FLEMING and Hiram ANTHONY justices of the peace n the County of Maury and State of Tennessee hereby certify that Ann UZZELL wife of Elisha UZZELL parties to a certain deed hereunto annexed & bearing date the 1 day of May 1845 personally appeared before us in our said county and being examined by us privily & apart from her husband, & having the deed aforesaid fully explained to her, she the said Ann UZZELL acknowledged the same to be her act and deed and declared that she had willingly signed, sealed, and delivered the same & that She wished not to retract it.
