ISLE OF WIGHT COUNTY, VA - DEEDS - Commissioners Thomas UZZELL & Thomas GRAY to Edwin WOMBWELL [WOMBLE], 3 Jan 1814 Deed of Bargain & Sale ----¤¤¤---- [p.] 108 [...] [margin note] Commissioners to } Deed WOMBLE This Indenture made and entered this 3.rd day of January In the year of Eighteen hundred and fourteen Between Thomas UZZELL and Thomas GRAY of the county of Isle of wight for the purposes herein mentioned a Copy of which is hereunto annexed, of the one part and Edwin WOMBWELL of the Same county of the other part Witnesseth that the before named commissioners for and in consideration of the sum of Two hundred and thirty dollars and fifty cents bonded and Secured to the Several heirs of Nancy JOYNER decd agreably to the directions of the Said decree.t and by Virtue of the powers vested in them by the decree aforesaid they the Said Commissioners have bargained and sold and by these presents doth bargain and Sell unto the said Edwin WOMBWELL his heirs and assigns forever the land in the said county of which Nancy JOYNER died Seized Containing about fifteen acres be the Same more or less comprehended within the following boundarees (to wit) By the lands of John DANNELL [DANIEL] William DANNELL and by two branches of Doct.r PURDIEs mill pond as will more fully appear by the Surveyors plat and report returned together with all and Singular the improvements and advantages thereunto belonging whether natural or artificial and the reversion and reversions remainders and remainders yearly and other rents issues and profits thereof To have and to hold the Said land and appertinances unto the Said Edwin WOMBWELL his heirs and assigns forever free from the claim or claims of them the commissioners before named or either of them their or either of their heirs or assigns, and the Said Commissioners for themselves and their heirs unto the Said Edwin WOMBWELL and his heirs and assigns forever do by these presents warrant the title unto the said land and appertinances against themselves their heirs and assignes forever But from the nature of their powers by which they execute these presents they cannot and do not warrant the Said title against the claim or [page break] [p.] 109 Claims of any other person or persons whatsoever who may claim otherways then by from or under them or either of them the Said commissioners In evidence of all which the Said Thomas UZZELL and Thomas GRAY have hereunto in their character of Commissioners Set their hands and Seals the day and year first above written - Signed Sealed and delivered} Thomas UZZELL ¤Seal¤ in the presence of } Thomas GRAY ¤Seal¤ W.m HOLLEMAN } John DANIEL } Lemuel WOMBWELL} At a Court held for Isle of Wight County the 3.rd day of January 1814 The foregoing Indenture was acknowledged by Thomas UZZELL and Thomas GRAY parties thereto and ordered to be recorded ~ Teste Nath.l YOUNG Cl.
