ISLE OF WIGHT COUNTY, VA - DEEDS - Robert and Mary WESTER [WESTRAY] to Francis VAUGHAN, 20 Dec 1779 ----¤¤¤---- [margin note] VAUGHAN to WESTRAY } This Indenture made this Twentyeth Day of December one thousand seven hundred and seventy Nine Between Robert WESTER and Mary his wife of the Isle of wight County of the one part and Francis VAUGHAN of the same County of the other part Witnesseth that the said Robert WESTER and his wife for and in Consideration of the sum of one hundred pounds Current money of Virginia to him in hand paid by the said Francis VAUGHAN Receipt whereof I the said Robert WESTER do hereby acknowledge he the said Robert WESTER and wife Mary hath granted Bargained sold aliened and Confirmed and by these presents doth grant Bargain and sell allien and Confirm by these presents doth grant Bargain and sell allien and Confirm [sic] unto the said Francis VAUGHAN his heirs and assigns for Ever all a certain Tract or parcel of Land Situate Lying and Being in the County aforesaid Bounded as followeth Begining at a Lightwood stake at John NELMNS Corner thence along the said NELMNS to John GWINs Line thence along the said GWINs Line to a pine a line Tree of Joseph BRIDGERs thence along the said BRIDGERs Line to a lightwood stump near the Meddow from thence along a Row of Mararked [sic] Trees to a black gum standing in the Long Branch in Mills LAWRENCE line thence along the said LAWRENCE line to the first station it being P.r Estimation fifty acres more or less and all and Every part there of to have and to hold the said Bargained premises and every [page break] [p.] 170 part thereof together with all Rights priviledges and appurtinances to the same Belonging or in any wise appertaining unto him the said Francis VAUGHAN and his heirs and assigns for Ever and the said Robert WESTER and his wife Mary for themselves their heirs Executors administrators do further Covenant promis affirm and agree to and the said Francis VAUGHAN his heirs and assigns that the said Bargained premises and Every part and parcel thereof now is and for ever hereafter shall stand and Remain unto the said Francis VAUGHAN his heirs and assigns free and Clear from all incumbrances whatsoever and that I have at the time of the Sealing and Delivery hereof a good Sure indefeasible Estate of Inheretance in fee in and to the said Bargained premises and every part thereof which we do transfer and oblige there selves their heirs Executors administrators to warrant and Defend this his sale of all and singular the premises with the appurtinances to him the said Francis VAUGHAN his heirs and assigns against all and all maner of persons whatsoever Claiming or to Claim from or under him and further I the said Robert WESTER and Wife Mary Do hereby Covenant and promise to and with the said Francis VAUGHAN his heirs and assigns that he the said Robert WESTER and wife Mary their heirs Executors and administrators shall and with all [sic; 'will'] at any time hereafter at the Request of the said Francis VAUGHAN his heirs or assigns make do and Execute any other or further Deed or Deeds or other writings whatsoever for the Certain Confirming the title of the above bargained premises unto the said Francis VAUGHAN his heirs & Assigns as the s.d Francis VAUGHAN his heirs & assigns shall be Reasonable [page break] [p.] 171 devised and devised [sic] or Required in Witness where of I the said Robert WESTER & wife Mary here unto set there hands [redundant "and wife Mary have hereunto set there hands" struck out] and affixed there seals the Day and year above Written his Robert X WESTER (seal) mark her Mary X WESTER (seal) mark Signed Sealed and Delivered} In presence of us.......} John LAWRENCE } Jesse LANKFORD } his Thomas + ENGLISH} mark Received December 20th 1779 of Francis VAUGHAN one hundred pounds Current money it being the Consideration of the within Mentioned premises By me his Robert X WESTER (seal) mark Test John LAWRENCE At a Court held for Isle of wight County the 4.th Day of March 1780 This Indenture was Acknowledged by Robert WESTER & mary his wife partys thereto she having Been first privily Examined as the Law Directs freely & Voluntarily Relinquished her Right of Dower to the Lands Conveyed by the said Indenture & Ordered to be Recorded Test Francis YOUNG DCl.
