All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ Isle of Wight Co., VA, Deed Book 21, pp. 218-19 10 Sep 1810 Joseph WESTRAY & wife Elizabeth to Micajah LOWE [margin note] WESTRAY to LOWE} Deed This Indenture made the 1st day of September One thousand eight hundred and ten between Joseph WESTRAY and Elizabeth his Wife of the County of Isle of Wight of the one part and Micajah LOWE and his Wife Sophia LOWE of Southampton County of the other part, Witnesseth, that the said Joseph WESTRAY and his Wife Elizabeth WESTRAY for and in consideration of the Sum of Two hundred and fifty dollars, hath bargained and Sold, granted, aliened, enfeoffed and confirmed, & by these presents doth grant alien, enfeoff & confirm unto the said Micajah LOWE & Sophia his Wife a certain tract of land lying in the County of Isle of Wight and are as follows one hundred acres the said land being a part of the land I purchased of Nathn.l WILKINSON and are bounded as follows, beginning at a Corner post Oak at a point joining the land of Samuel PIERCE, then running along a line of marked trees a South Course across the road called the Tar road into a Small branch and down said Branch where it forks between the land of Wiley TURNER, William PIERCE at corner tree a maple, then running a Southeast Course joining the land of Wiley TURNER so on joining the land [page break] of Mills BRACEY, cornering at a red Oak, then running a North Course of marked trees, joing a part of the land belonging to Joseph WESTRAY to the beginning corner post oak with all and singularly its appertenances thereunto the said land & profits thereon unto the said Micajah LOWE his heirs and assigns to the only proper use and behoof of him the said Micajah LOWE his heirs and assigns forever, and the said Joseph WESTRAY for himself his heirs exor.s & adm.rs doth covenant, promise and part to and with the said Micajah LOWE his heirs and assigns shall and lawfully may from henceforth forever hereafter peaceably, quietly have hold occupy and possess & enjoy the said land or tenements, lands, hereditaments and premises hereby given and granted with their & envoy of their appertenances free clear and discharged from any & every charge and incumberance whatever, and the said Joseph WESTRAY his heirs executors or adm.rs will at all times and forever hereafter warrant and defend the aforesaid land & premises with their and envoy of their advantages to the said Micajah LOWE his Heirs and assigns against him the said Joseph WESTRAY his Heirs &.c and against all and every person or persons lawfully claiming by from or under him, them or any of them- In Witness whereof the said Joseph WESTRAY ["his heirs" struck out] hath hereunto set his hand and affixed his Seal, the day & date first above Written Joseph WESTRAY *Seal* Elizabeth WESTRAY *Seal* X her mark Signed, Sealed and delivered} in presence of } [witnesses not given] Sep.t 1.st day 1810 We the subscribers do hereunto acknowledge the Within Contents- Witness Our hands & Seals &.c Joseph WESTRAY *Seal* Elizabeth WESTRAY *Seal* X her mark At a Court held for the County of Isle of Wight on the 3.d Sept.r 1810 the foregoing receipt and indenture was acknowledged by Joseph WESTRAY and Elizabeth WESTRAY party thereto & was ordered to be recorded. - Teste, Nath.l YOUNG CC Contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by Matt Harris [line breaks & capitalization mine]. file at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/va/isleofwight/deeds/westray1.txt
