The Peanut Market - New Railroad Proposed. The Farmers. WINDSOR, VA., Feb. 26-[Special.]- The prices of peanuts having advanced a little, quantities of them are now being thrown on the market here. One of our enterprising firms bought and shipped five carloads yesterday. The Alliance factory is also buying quite largely and the merchants are taking no few in trade. It is already evident that the different positions on the Democratic ticket for county offices will be hotly contested this spring, as a large number of candidates are already in the field. Eight aspire to the office of commissioner of the revenue. Dr. C. G. Jones, of Norfolk is conducting a revival meeting in the Christian church here this week. Misses Nora, Jessie and Nannie Parker and Miss Lulie Jordan, of Smithfield, are the guests of Mrs. R. A. Edwards. A railroad is now talked of from Windsor to Smithfield. It would doubtless be a profitable enterprise, since the cost of construction would be comparably small, and the route lying through a populous, fertile agricultural section, having no means of transportation without great inconvenience. Windsor property is steadily advancing. The farmers in this section are clubbing together and buying their fertilizers by the large quantity direct from the factory.
