The papers were filed in the Eastern Virginia United States District Court and signed by Judge Robert N. Pollard. The Town of Franklin has leased the Franklin Municipal Airport to the United States Navy Department, which will use the port as an auxiliary flying field. The land condemned is understood to be between the Suffolk and Windsor highways. *Additional information: The Franklin Municipal Airport was re-named in honor of a Army Capt. John Beverly Rose, who was killed 29 Jun 1964 in a helicopter crash at Ft. Belvoir, Fairfax Co.
