EVELYN BOWDEN ALPHIN

   ZUNI - A funeral service for Evelyn Bowden Alphin was held at 2 p.m. 
Saturday in Colosse Baptist Church by the Revs. Donald E. Trump and Waverly 
Horne.  Burial was in the church cemetery. I.O. Hill & Co. Funeral Home, 
Suffolk, had charge.

   Alphin died at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in a Norfolk hospital.

   A native of Isle of Wight County, she was the wife of Leonard Harrell 
Alphin Jr.  She was a member of Colosse Baptist Church and its Fellowship 
Sunday School Class and Peggy Johnson Circle.

   Other survivors include two sons, Marvin H. Alphin of Raleigh, N.C., 
and J. Harrell Alphin of Danville; a sister, Hazel B. Bowden of Zuni; two 
brothers, Howard Bowden of Windsor and Byron Bowden of Newport News; and 
two grandchildren.
