LEONARD HARRELL ALPHIN JR. 

Leon Harrell Alphin Jr, 74 

  Leon Harrell Alphin Jr., 74, of the 200 block of Rainbow Lane, a retired 
lineman, died April 21, 1990, in a nursing home.

  Mr. Alphin, a native of Gates County, N.C., was the widower of Evelyn B. 
Alphin.  He had retired from Community Electric Co. after 17 years.  He was 
a member of Colosse Baptist Church and was an Army veteran of World War II.

  Survivors include two sons, Marvin H. Alphin of Libertyville, Ill., and 
J. Harrell Alphin of Virginia Beach; three sisters, Edith A. Anderson of 
Suffolk, Alene A. Cox of Smithfield and Antionette A. Willis of Windsor, 
Va.; four brothers, John B. Alphin and Robert O. Alphin, both of Zuni, 
William M. Alphin of Boston, Va., and G. Thomas Alphin Sr. of Windsor, Va.; 
and two grandchildren.

  The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Hill Funeral Home by 
the Revs. Donald E. Trump and Tommy J. Taylor.  Burial will be in Colosse 
Baptist Church cemetery.  Friends may join the family from 7 to 8 p.m. today 
in the funeral home and at 2433 Bluecastle Court, Virginia Beach.

  Memorial donations may be made to the Windsor Volunteer Rescue Squad.
