Tribute of respect from the members of Beaver Dam Camp C. V., to the honored J.J. Andrews. In the month of March [sic*] 1906 God saw fit - in His goodness and mercy - to take from us our highly esteemed and beloved Bro. J.J. Andrews. The Lord knoweth and doeth all things well, He is a stronghold and an almighty friend when in need. Brother Andrews was a gentleman of high type, during the Civil war he was a brave and honest soldier, after the war when he came home he was a good citizen, good neighbor, a good husband and father and last and best, he was a good Christian, he lived a life worthy to be honored and followed, and we hope and believe that his eternity will be one of perfect rest. RESOLVED, 1ST. That whereas we the members of Beaver Dam Camp C.V., do mourn and lament the loss of our Brother Andrews, we do humbly bow to the will of the Lord, knowing that all things are His and that He doeth all things well, He giveth and taketh away. Blessed be His holy name. RESOLVED, 2ND. That we extend to the bereaved family our deepest heartfelt sympathy, praying that they in their afflictions may be upheld and comforted by the power of the Holy Spirit, knowing that all things work together for good to them that love the Lord. RESOLVED, 3RD. That a copy of these resolutions be sent to the Tidewater News for publication and to the bereaved family and also spread on our record books. D.L. BUTLER, Secretary. He served in Co. F, 61st VA Infantry, and was promoted to second sergeant in 1862. He was paroled at Appomattox C.H. A son of Benjamin E. & Elizabeth ANDREWS, he m. "Maggie" Margaret Ann BOWDEN (1847 - 1918), daughter of Elias & Temperance BOWDEN, 6 Feb 1873, in Isle of Wight Co. The family appeared in the 1900 Census in Hardy Dist., Isle of Wight Co. - Owned Free Farm #150; m. 26 years, 3 of 3 children surviving.
