MARTHA NEWBY BOOTHE 

  SMITHFIELD - Mrs. Martha Newby Boothe, wife of Willie Boothe, died Friday 
in a Newport News hospital after short illness.

  Besides her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Laura B. Roberts 
of Smithfield; a son, Willie Boothe, Jr. of Smithfield; a sister, Mrs. Mary 
Newby of Newport News; two brothers, Samuel Newby of Newport News and George 
W. Newby of Smithfield, 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

  A funeral service will be conducted today at noon in Zion Baptist Church, 
Smithfield, of which she was a member, by the Rev. J.A. Taylor.  Burial will 
in Henry Tynes Cemetery.  The body is at Tynes Funeral Home.
