ALFRED RAWLS BUTLER JR. 

   CARRSVILLE - A funeral service for Alfred Rawls Butler Jr., 76, was held 
Tuesday in Beaver Dam Baptist Church at 3 p.m. by the Rev. Richard Peercy. 
Burial was in the church cemetery with R.W. Baker & Company Funeral Home in 
charge.

   Pallbearers were: Jarvis Howell Sr., Hunter Daughtrey, Jarvis Howell Jr., 
Elliott Johnson, Ronald Daughtrey, Russell Flythe, Woodrow Johnson, Neil 
Allen; and the Carrsville Ruritan Club served as honorary pallbearers.

   Butler died Sunday in a Norfolk hospital.

   A native of Carrsville, he was the husband of Margaret Shotten [sic; 
Shotton] Butler.

   He was a farmer and a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church, its Men’s Bible 
Class and the Carrsville Ruritan Club.

   Other survivors include a daughter, Margaret Carolyn Witschard of 
Leavenworth, Kan.; a son, Alfred Rawls Butler IV of Carrsville; five sisters, 
Irene Howell of Carrsville, Unice Vaughan of Hampton, Minnie Holland of 
Suffolk, Nellie Williams of Moultrie, Ga., and Janie Fox of Virginia Beach; 
two brothers, Wilson Butler of Carrsville and Frank Butler of Portsmouth; and 
four grandchildren.

   Memorial donation may be made to Beaver Dam Baptist Church.
