ADA ANN JUDKINS BUTLER 

   Mrs. Ada Ann Butler, 79, widow of David L. Butler, died Thursday night, 
July 22*, at the home of her son, Herman Butler, near Carrsville after a 
lingering illness.

   She was the daughter of the late Joseph Thomas and Frances Rebecca Judkins 
of Nansemond County, and was for many years a member of the South Quay Baptist 
Church.

   The deceased is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Lynn Howell of Holland and 
Mrs. Joe Keen of Franklin; seven sons, Herman and Jason Butler of Carrsville, 
Sam Butler and D.R. Butler, Sr., of Franklin, and Paul, Harry and Flippo 
Butler of Portsmouth; one sister, Mrs. Minnie Spivey of Bethel, N.C.; one 
brother, Joseph Judkins of Suffolk; and 21 grandchildren and eight great-
grandchildren.

   Funeral services for Mrs. Butler were held at four o’clock Friday 
afternoon, July 23, at Beaver Dam Baptist Church, Rev. H.L. Foster, pastor of 
the Holland Baptist Church, officiating, assisted by Rev. G.R. Pankey.  Burial 
was in the church cemetery.
