Holland & Sons Funeral Chapel, Franklin by the Rev. Edwin M. Thornton and Dr. Ira D. Hudgins. Burial was in Colosse Cemetery with Masonic rites. Pallbearers were Carey Fox, Frank Holland, John Vaughan, Ralph Williams, J.C. Rose and John E. Rose. Butler, 58, of 305 34th St., Virginia Beach, died in his home Sunday at 1:30 a.m. A native of Isle of Wight County, he was a son of the late Alfred Rawls and Mrs. Minnie Rose Butler and the husband of Mrs. Audrey Turner Butler. He lived here a year, before which he lived in Miami Beach six years. He was a Baptist. Surviving, besides his widow, are a son, John C. Butler Jr. of Franklin; two daughters, Mrs. Emagene Mangum of Angier, N.C., and Mrs. Cinda Wood of Dallas, Tex.; three brother, Alfred R. Butler Jr. and Wilson R. Butler of Carrsville, and T. Frank Butler of Chesapeake; five sisters, Mrs. Irene B. Howell of Franklin, Mrs. Eunice Vaughan of Newport News, Mrs. Nellie Williams of Moultrie, Ga., Mrs. Janie Fox of Virginia Beach and Mrs. Minnie Holland of Holland; and five grandchildren.
