RICHARD BUTLER

   NEWSOMS - Richard M. Butler, 70, a retired Isle of Wight County farmer, 
died Friday in a hospital.

   He was a member of Colosse Baptist Church.

   Survivors include his wife, Josie Britt Butler; a daughter, Edna B. Porter 
of Newsoms; a so, Roy C. Butler of Suffolk; four sisters, Lizzie Bradshaw of 
Hopewell, Daisy Claud and Ella Holland, both of Windsor, and Fannie Whitley 
of Suffolk; and seven grandchildren.

   A funeral will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in Purviance Funeral Chapel, 
Wakefield, by the Revs. Donald Trump and Arthur Green.  Burial will be in 
Windsor Cemetery.

   The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today.
