Mr. Butler is survived by his wife, Violet Munford Butler; six daughters, Mrs. Garland Goodrich of Wakefield, Mrs. T.S. Brittle of Wakefield, Mrs. W.F. Mayes of Richmond, Mrs. William Arnett of Portsmouth, and Misses Rose and Esther Rena Butler of Wakefield; five sons, D.C. Butler of Suffolk, Lorraine Butler, Thomas, Frederick and R.E. Jr., of Wakefield; two brothers, Joe Butler of Norfolk and Tom Butler of Isle of Wight County. Funeral services will be conducted from his residence near Wakefield Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. by the Rev. Mr. Umphlett. Burial will be in Beaver Dam Cemetery, near Franklin.
