ROBERT HENRY BUTLER 

  Franklin, Aug. 31. - (Special) - Robert Earl [sic; Robert Henry] Butler, 
65, well-known farmer of Wakefield community, died Monday night at Lakeview 
Hospital after an illness of three weeks.  Mr. Butler is survived by his 
wife, Violet Munford Butler; six daughters, Mrs. Garland Goodrich of 
Wakefield, Mrs. T.S. Brittle of Wakefield, Mrs. W.F. Mayes of Richmond, Mrs. 
William Arnett of Portsmouth, and Misses Rose and Esther Rena Butler of 
Wakefield; five sons, D.C. Butler of Suffolk, Lorraine Butler, Thomas, 
Frederick and R.E. Jr., of Wakefield; two brothers, Joe Butler of Norfolk 
and Tom Butler of Isle of Wight County. 

  Funeral services will be conducted from his residence near Wakefield 
Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. by the Rev. Mr. Umphlett.  Burial will be 
in Beaver Dam Cemetery, near Franklin.

   however, Find a Grave Mem. #191365655 confuses her with a Negro servant 
   who d. 23 Nov 1919 in Dinwiddie Co., & bu. in her native Louisa Co. 

His widow 2m. John Waverly GOODRICH 12 Jan 1939, at Black Creek. 
   (Surry Co. M.Cert.)  They are buried in Rocky Hock Methodist Church
