The funeral was conducted by the Rev. O.D. Poythress, pastor of the South Norfolk Christian Church, and was largely attended. The floral tributes were very beautiful. The interment was in Magnolia cemetery and the following acted as pall bearers; Messrs. W.A. West, Alonzo Spivey, Harry Knott, W.G. Brinkley, Edward Gray, W. G. Thomas, B.F. Huffington and C.E Johnson. ****************************************************************************** BERKLEY FUNERAL - STEPHEN CAREY BUTLER Funeral services for Mr. Butler, who died Monday, at his home, 617 East Liberty Street, were conducted yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the First Christian Church by the Rev. O.D. Poythress, pastor of the South Norfolk Christian Church, and the Rev. L.W. Johnson, D.D., of Suffolk. There were many in attendance. Mr. Poythress sang "The Old Rugged Cross," and Mrs. J.L. Mercer and Mrs. W.J. Spence sang "Tell Mother I'll Be There." Members of the church choir sang "Safe in the Arms of Jesus" There were many floral offerings. Pall bearers were: W.A. West, Alonza Spivy, Harry Knott, W.G. Brinkley, Edward Gray, W.G. Thomas, B.W. Huffington and C.E. Johnson.
