(Bud) Butler, who died yesterday morning at his home near Windsor, will be conducted at 3:30 Saturday afternoon at the Antioch Christian Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. ****************************************************************************** Butler Funeral Held At Antioch SUFFOLK, July 3 - Funeral services for W.W. (Bud) Butler, who died Thursday at his home near Windsor, were conducted at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Antioch Church by Rev. T. Fred Wright and Rev. R.E. Brittle. The church choir sang, "Shall We Gather At The River" and "God Will Take Care Of You." A duet, "Life is Like A Mountain Railroad" was sung by Miss Winifred Clements and Mrs. H.E. Pierce. Rev. Brittle read "Crosslng the Bar" at the grave. The casket was covered with a pall of yellow roses, Easter lilies, white gladioli and baby's breath. Active pallbearers were W.T. Joyner, John Godwin, Shady Roberts, Willie Garrison, Ab Howell, J.R. Wills, Horace Pierce and Shirley Holland. Burial was in the church cemetery. ****************************************************************************** W. W. Butler, 80, Buried Saturday W.W. (Bud) Butler, 80, prominent farmer of Isle of Wight County, living near Windsor, died June 28th at 6:35 o'clock. He was the son of the late John and Minnie Beale Butler, of Isle of Wight, and was a member of Antioch Christian Church. Surviving him are his wife, Mrs. Ella M. Butler; two daughters, Mrs. T.A. Wills and Mrs. W.L. Pierce, both of Windsor; a son, W.W. Butler Jr. of Newport News; and five grandchildren and a great granddaughter; a brother, William Butler of Norfolk. Funeral services were held at the Antioch Christian Church at 3:30 PM with the Rev. T. Fred Wright, pastor of Antioch Church, and the Rev. R.E. Brittle of Bethlehem Christian Church officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. The 1860 Census - Eastern Dist., IoW.Co. - gives John B. The 1880 Census - Chuckatuck Dist., Nan.Co. - gives John B. John B. BUTLER applied for a Confederate pension 28 May 1901 & 30 Oct 1902. The first states he served in Co. E, 9th VA Infantry. The regimental history states he d. 1 Oct 1908 of palsy. Winnie BUTLER applied for a Confederate pension 21 Apr 1910. The application states he played fife in the war, and "ever was very nervous." King's "Historical Notes" gives John D. BUTLER, drummer, Co. E, 9th VA Inf.
