Death occurred without warning as Mr. Batten sat in a chair in his home. He had been in ill health recently. Surviving are his wife and daughter, Bert Batten. Funeral services were held Thursday at 3 p.m. at Benns church, Isle of Wight County, and burial was in the churchyard.
