MARY ANNA CARR BOWDEN

   Mrs. Mary Anna Bowden, 65, a resident of the Zuni community and wife of 
Riley T. Bowden, died in Obici Memorial Hospital, Suffolk, on Monday 
afternoon, September 8, after a long illness.

   A member of Mt. Carmel Christian Church, she was the daughter of the late 
M.W. and Mrs. Mary Virginia Munford Carr of Isle of Wight County.

   Besides her husband, she is survived by one brother, T.M. Carr, Sr., of 
Zuni.

   Funeral services for Mrs. Bowden were conducted on Wednesday afternoon at 
3 o'clock at Mt. Carmel Church by the pastor, Rev. Ellis Clark, assisted by 
Rev. R.E. Brittle.  Burial was in the church cemetery.

   Active pallbearers were W.E. Beale, C.C. Bland, Julian Carr, L.D. Carr, 
Z.T. Holland, F.H. Johnson, J. Sherman Johnson and Otis Joyner.  Honorary 
pallbearers were members of the Women's Benefit Association of Walters and 
Zuni.
