Winborne, in the Carrsville community Friday, March 9. Mrs. Beale was the wife of W.H. Beale, who died 26 years ago and was the daughter of the late Lemuel and Mrs. Nancy Glover* Gardner of Isle of Wight County. Besides her daughter she is survived by five grandchildren, Miss Flossie Winborne of Sebrell, Miss Gladys Winborne of Franklin, Mrs. Harry Hill and Warwick Winborne of Murfreesboro and Willie Winborne of Carrsville and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held from the residence Saturday afternoon conducted by her Pastor, Rev. W.B. Denson, and interment was made in the cemetery at Beaver Dam Church. The active pallbearers were the deacons of Beaver Dam, Mrs. Beale having the distinction of being the oldest member of the church, having joined as a girl. Margaret Ann (GARDNER; Mrs. William H.) Winborne. Both the obit & D.Cert. are in error as to her mother's maiden name. Lemuel R. Gardner m. 1 May 1824 Nancy Daughtrey (Daughtry). (Southampton Co. M.Reg. pp. 335, 688) Nancy remarried, to Wm.H. Saunders, ca. 1851. (1860 Census - Upper Parish, Nansemond Co., VA) The 1850 Census gives Margaret Gardner, age 11, b. Nansemond Co.; 1860, Margaret Saunders, age 19. (both in Nan.Co.) Margaret's bro Lemuel H. Gardner served in Co. C/13th Va. Cav., CSA.
