All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ Rites Today For Mrs. Blatchford Funeral services tor Mrs. Aimee Meachen Blatchford, of Windsor, a native of North Dakota, were conducted today at 4 p.m. at the Woodland Methodist Church by the Rev. Gordon F. Krepps, pastor, the Rev. Otis L. Gilliam of Smithfield, retired minister, and the Windsor Christian Church. [sic] Burial was in the church cemetery. Mrs. Blatchford, 78, died Sunday at 3:05 a.m. at the Obici Memorial Hospital after a short illness. She was the daughter of Edward Willis Meachen and Rhoda Alice Stubbs Meachen of North Dakota. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Ethel Blatchford Raveling, Windsor; one son, Robert A. Blatchford, Claymont, Del.; nine grandchildren; two brothers, Harold W. Meachen, Van Nuys, Calif., and Leonard Meachen, Terminal Island, Calif.; and one sister, Mrs. R.W. Hill, Stanhope, Iowa. She was a member of the Woodland Methodist Church and had taught in the public schools of North Dakota tor 30 years. After moving to Virginia she taught in the Windsor public school system from 1946 to 1952. During that time she was senior class adviser. D.Cert. 15860 (Chuckatuck #169) Her parents are buried in Ellendale City Cemetery, Ellendale, Dickey Co., ND. Her husband was b. 1 Feb 1878 in Ontario, Canada. He immigrated to Detroit, MI, Sep 1883, and sought to become a US citizen by renouncing his allegiance to Queen Victoria, 16 Jun 1899 in ND. He served as Postmaster of Berlin, La Moure Co., ND 1906-10. He later was a farmer, and shot himself 16 Apr 1925. His gravestone mistakenly shows b. 1 Feb 1876.
