BRIGGS DIES SUDDENLY Mrs. Florence Williams Briggs, 51, wife of W.J. Briggs of Smithfield, prominently connected both by birth and marriage in Isle of Wight and Southampton Counties died Monday morning at the home in Smithfield at 12:30 o'clock following a paralytic stoke. Mrs. Briggs was the daughter of the late Cooper and Janie E. Williams, of Courtland and besides her husband is survived by three sisters, Mrs. James Hunter of Enfield, N.C.; Mrs. William Thornton and Mrs. J.E. Whitfield of Courtland a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted at Christ Episcopal Church, Smithfield, by the Rev. William Brayshaw Tuesday afternoon at 4 o'clock. Burial was in Old Saint Lukes Cemetery on the Smithfield highway. Active pallbearers were; V.W. Joyner, F.B. Simpson, J.F. Wilson, J.T. Robbins, R.A. Edwards, Dr. Rea Parker, R.J. Delk and W.P. Warren. Floral offerings were many and beautiful. ****************************************************************************** FLORENCE WILLIAMS BRIGGS Mrs. Florence Williams Briggs, 51, wife of W.J. Briggs, died at her home in Smithfield Monday following a paralytic stroke. She was the daughter of the late Cooper and Janie E. Williams of Courtland.
