Loften [sic; Lofton] Braswell, aged about 30 years, and well-known resident of Isle of Wight County, living two miles from Windsor, was burned to death Tuesday morning while asleep in his automobile on a side road near his home. The burned car with the charred body was found by Ocie Powell early this morning as Mr. Powell, who lives near the scene of the tragedy, came from his home. Mr. Braswell, it is believed, got his car in the ditch, where it was found by Mr. Powell, and being unable to get out unaided, climbed the back seat and went to sleep. Either Mr. Braswell was smoking or the car caught from the engine and burned completely. Mr. Braswell is survived by his wife, who before marriage was Miss Cobb, and 3 small children, Thomas, May and a baby. The body was viewed by Dr. Rea Parker of Smithfield, county coroner, and was investigated by Isle of Wight authorities.
