GERTRUDE FAY BLAND BARRETT 

  CARRSVILLE - Gertrude Bland Barrett, 98, of Carrsville, Va., died Oct. 29, 
2004.  She was a native of Isle of Wight County and was the daughter of the 
late Essie Joyner and William Edward Bland.  She formerly served over 25 years 
as a dietician for Windsor High School.  She was the oldest living member of 
Antioch Church and was also a member of Beaver Dam's Baptist Church Seniors 
Group and the Carrsville Homemakers.  She was also an avid quilter. 

  She was also preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, William Dennis 
Barrett; her daughter, Barbara Bland Barrett; her sister, Edna Barrett; 
brothers, Roy and Norman Bland; and two granddaughters.  She is survived by a 

daughter, Billie Fay Barrett Rose of Carrsville, Va.; son and daughter-in-law, 
Maple Talmadge Barrett Sr. and Fay Baines Barrett of Wakefield, Va.; 
grandchildren, Diane Sue Cash, Maple T. Barrett Jr., Robert Barrett Rose and 
Michelle Mills Rose and Adina Baker Rose; seven great-grandchildren and one 
great-great-grandchild. 

  Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 2, at Antioch Church, 
Windsor, Va., with the Rev. Mark Habecker and Dr. Richard Peerey officiating. 
Interment will be in Antioch Church Cemetery.  Friends may join the family 
from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday night at Parr Funeral Home and other times at the 
residence of Billie Fay Barrett Rose, 5194 Carrsville Hwy., Carrsville, VA 
23315.  Contributions may be made to Antioch Church, P.O. Box 36, Windsor, VA 
23487.

  Gertrude Bland Barrett, 98, of Carrsville, died on October 29, 2004. 

  The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 2, 2004, at 2 p.m. at 
Antioch Church, Windsor. Rev. Mark Habecker and Dr. Richard Peerey are 
officiating.  Interment will be at the Antioch Church Cemetery. 

  Friends may join the family Monday night from 7-8 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home 
and other times at the residence of Billie Fay Barrett Rose at 5194 Carrsville 
Hwy., Carrsville, Va. 23315. 

  Memorial contributions may be made to Antioch Church at P.O. Box 36, 
Windsor, Va. 23487.
