JAY P. BARRETT 

  Jay Prexley [sic; Pressley] Barrett, 31, died Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock 
at his home in Franklin after an illness of about a year.  He was the son the 
late M.T. Barrett and Mrs. Eliza Bryant Barrett, of Isle of Wight County.  He 
was a member of Antioch Christian Church.  Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mary 
Spivey Barrett; his mother; five brothers, Edgar Emmett, Walter and Alex 
Barrett, of Windsor, and Tommy Barrett, of Smithfield; three sisters, Mrs. 
B.M. Cobb, Mrs. W.A. Cobb and Mrs. C.E. Tomlin.  A number of nieces and 
nephews also survive. 

  Funeral services were conducted at Antioch Christian Church Saturday 
afternoon at 3 o'clock by the Rev. C.E. Crutchfield, assisted by the Rev. 
Rufus Corbitt.  Burial was in the church cemetery.
