Bradshaw of Carrsville died suddenly in the city of Roanoke Sunday morning in the home of her sister, Mrs. A.A. Johnson, where she had gone to be present at a birthday celebration of Mrs. Johnson’s. Mrs. Bradshaw was one of the most popular and useful women of her community and numbered host of friends throughout Tidewater Virginia. She had gained a wide acquaintance through her popular tearoom, the Dew Drop Inn at Carrsville on the Franklin-Suffolk highway, and was active in other community affairs, notably the Beaver Dam Chapter Daughters of the Confederacy which she organized and had served as president. She was a consistent member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church and the woman’s organizations of the church and took a keen interest in the well-being of the local school. Mrs. Bradshaw is survived by her husband, Dr. C.J. Bradshaw of Carrsville; one son, J.J. Bradshaw of Carrsville, and three sisters, Mrs. A.A. Johnson, Mrs. J.W. Hodges and Mrs. W.E. Parson, all of Roanoke. She also leaves five grandchildren. She was the daughter of the late Joel Cutchin, at one time a resident of Franklin and later a prominent citizen of Roanoke and its mayor. Her mother was Miss Margaret Frances Norfleet of Nansemond County. She was a niece of the late Cornelius A. Cutchins of this town and of J. Oliver Cutchin of Elwood who died less than a month ago. Funeral services were conducted from the Bradshaw residence in Carrsville Tuesday afternoon at 3 o’clock in the presence of a large assembly of friends. The service was conducted by Rev. G.R. Pankey of Charlotte County, a former pastor of Beaver Dam, assisted by Rev. Jas. S. Watt, rector of Emmanuel Church, Franklin, and by Rev. Mr. Morrison of Beaver Dam. The body bearers were: J. Clinton Bradshaw and Wilbur Bradshaw of Carrsville, Clifford A. Cutchins and Walter H. Norfleet of Franklin, W.M. Crumpler of Suffolk and Murray Norfleet of Holland. Honorary pallbearers were selected from a large number of friends and neighbors. Interment was made in the churchyard cemetery at Beaver Dam. Clara (CUTCHIN*; Mrs. "Claude" J.)
