BRADSHAW Mr. Joel Bradshaw, a well-known resident of Isle of Wight County, near Franklin, died on May 2, 1916, in his 65th year, the cause of his death being a bronchial trouble from which he had suffered more than twenty years, together with other complications.* He was a successful lumberman and farmer, a man of good judgment and he had earned the respect and esteem of a wide circle of friends and acquaintances. It was peculiarly distressing that only a few weeks ago, his beautiful country home was destroyed by fire and this loss undoubtedly hastened the end. He was a man of exemplary character, a kind and generous husband and father and a good neighbor to those about him. He is survived by four sons, Dr. T.G. Bradshaw of Walters, J.C. Bradshaw of Carrsville, Wilbur V. Bradshaw of Norfolk and Robert Lee Bradshaw of Isle of Wight; two daughters, Misses Annie and Evie Bradshaw of Isle of Wight; a brother, Mr. Jacob T. Bradshaw, and four sisters, Miss Mary Bradshaw, Mrs. Martha Bradshaw, Mrs. Etta Howell, Mrs. Jennie Howell and Mrs. Sarah Lankford. The funeral services were held from Beaver Dam Baptist Church Mary 3, by Rev. H.H. Butler of Suffolk, assisted by Rev. G.C. Duncan of Beaver Dam. The pallbearers were his four sons and Dr. C.J. Bradshaw, Paul and John Howell, Ralph Lankford and Walter Garris. The interment was made in the churchyard cemetery by the side of his wife, who preceded him to the grave about thirteen years ago.
