(Special to The Times-Dispatch.) As a direct result of a wound made over forty years ago in the Civil War, Luther F. Bradshaw died this week at his home in Isle of Wight county, aged 64 years. Mr. Bradshaw received in a leg a bullet, which surgeons could not remove, and the wound never healed, becoming more hurtful during the past year. He was postmaster of Windsor, Va., during Harrison's administration. He is survived by a widow, four daughters and three sons. ****************************************************************************** DEAD FROM WOUND RECEIVED FORTY YEARS AGO Former Postmaster Of Windsor Dies From Bullet Wound Received During The War Between The States Suffolk, Va., March 15. - Luther F. Bradshaw, a former postmaster, of Windsor, Va., carried a bullet in his leg for over forty years, but it finally brought on his death. Mr. Bradshaw died a day or two ago at his home in Isle of Wight county, near Windsor, as a direct result of the wound, which was made during the Civil war. The war surgeons could not extract the ball and no physician who has ever attended him since had been able to get it out. The wound was more or less painful always and never would heal. It had become more hurtful within the past few years. The deceased was postmaster at Windsor during the administration of President Harrison. He was a highly regarded citizen. The funeral took place from the residence and was conducted by Rev. C.P. Ryland, who was assisted by Rev. Mr. Bowden. Mr. Bradshaw was 64 years of age. He leaves a widow, who is a sister of S.J. Carr, of Suffolk; four daughters, Mrs. Docia Turner, Mrs. Annie Vaughan and Misses Bessie and Mary Bradshaw, and three sons, Solomon J., Luther Upshur and Junius Bradshaw. Luther F. A blacksmith before the war, he served as a private in Co. D, 16th VA Infantry. He was wounded in the forearm 29 Oct 1864 at Petersburg, in the right thigh 28 Feb 1865 at Petersburg and captured 3 Apr 1865 at a Petersburg hospital. He was appointed Postmaster of Windsor Station 19 Jun 1889. He m. "Mollie" Mary E. CARR 13 Feb 1868 in Isle of Wight Co. His mother's name appears variously Emaline, Emeline, Emmeline, &c.; daughter of Parker & Abba HOWELL, she d. 13 Apr 1882, of paralysis, age 58. (Isle of Wight Co. D.Reg.)
