Joseph H. Barlow Laid To Rest Sunday 

  Funeral services for Joseph Harrom [sic; Hiram] Barlow, prominent citizen of 
Isle of Wight County, who died at his home near Smithfield, July 27, aged 72, 
were held Sunday afternoon at Smithfield Baptist church, at 4 o'clock, 
conducted by the Rev. L.F. Paulette, assisted by the Rev. J.M. Batten, of 
Nashville, Tenn. 

  Active pallbearers were Harry Dashiells [sic; Dashiell], Wesley Cofer, James 
Dashiells, Willie Butler, Fenton Jones, Andrew Jones, Edwin Barlow; honorary 
pallbearers were F.B. Simpson, S.A. Jennings, C.S. Betts, Dr. Rea Parker, 
George F. Whitley, J.I. Cofer, George Crumpler, A.F. Barlow, F.G. Edwards, 
C.S. Hart, W.H. Moody, W.H. Sykes, F.W. Hearn, C.D. Haverty, C.M. Beale, Col. 
J.W. Holloway, T.M. Jones, Willie Cobb, C.H. Barlow, J.R. Rowell, Caleb 
Batten, J.B. Taliaferro, Whit Parker, George Brockwell, C.A. Snyder, George 
Delk, H.C. Haverty, J.M. Branch, M.I. Minton, Dr. W.C. Ames, J.M. Jones, E.C. 
Goodrich, A. Adelstein, H.M. Wilson, R.A. Edwards and B.O. Gwaltney.  Burial 
was in Ivy Hill cemetery. 

  Mr. Barlow is survived by a widow, Mrs. Alice Dashiells Barlow; four sons, 
A.C. Barlow, of Fort Worth, Texas; G.A. Barlow, G.E. Barlow, Johh R. Barlow, 
of Smithfield; three daughters, Mrs. J.F. Holland, of Newport News; Mrs. G.A. 
Culton, of Roanoke; Mrs. Mattie Smith, and Mrs. Lonnie Jones of Isle of Wight 
county.

b. 8 Aug 1856, Isle of Wight Co., d. 27 Jul 1928, at home, near Smithfield, 
interred in Ivy Hill Cemetery*, Smithfield, 29 Jul 1928,
