CHRISTINE ANNIE BROWN Mrs. Christine Annie Brown, 63 well-known member of the Tucker Swamp community, near Zuni, died suddenly Tuesday afternoon while on a visit to her physician in Smithfield. Mrs. Brown was an active member of the Tucker Swamp Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, Richard Henry Brown; two sons, W.L. Brown of Zuni and Louis Brown of the Black Creek community; a daughter, Mrs. Della Joyner of the Berlin community; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Tennis of Rescue and Mrs. E.L. Mumford, of Zuni; a brother, Ryland Joyner, of the Corinth community, one grandchild and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at the Tucker Swamp Baptist Church Thursday afternoon (today) at 2 o’clock by the Rev. A.P. Thompson of Suffolk. Burial will be in Tucker Swamp Cemetery. ****************************************************************************** ANNIE CHRISTINE JOYNER BROWN Mrs. Annie Christine Brown, 65, well known resident of Tucker Swamp community, died suddenly Tuesday of last week while on a visit to her physician in Smithfield. Mrs. Brown was an active member of the Tucker Swamp Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, Richard Henry Brown of Zuni: two sons, W.L. Brown of Zuni and Louie Brown of the Black Creek community; a daughter, Mrs. William Joyner of the Berlin community; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Tennis of Rescue and Mrs. E.L. Munford of Zuni; one granddaughter and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at Tucker Swamp Baptist Church Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock by the Rev. H.P. Thompson of Suffolk. The casket was covered with a pall of red and white carnations. The church choir sang "In the Sweet Bye and Bye," "Pass Me Not O Gentle Saviour" and "Sweet Hour of Prayer" and Mrs. Hillyer of Rescue sang "Lord I’m Coming Home" accompanied by Mrs. Amos Wills. Active pallbearers were: Frank Clark, Richard Powell, P.T. Brown, Hunter Womble, Lonnie West, R.M. Doles, Percy Bradshaw and Crawford Joyner. Friends of the family served as honorary pallbearers.
