Byrum, 79, died Saturday, Aug. 19, 2000 in Southampton Memorial Hospital. Mr. Byrum was born Dec. 22, 1920 in Edenton, N.C., to the late Eli Thomas and Ida Pierce Byrum. He was a self-employed retired farmer who lived and worked on his Walnut Hill Farm. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who had a never-ending love for his family. Mr. Byrum is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Juanita Lane Byrum; a daughter, JoAnn B. Underwood of Franklin; a son, Donald A. Byrum of Carrsville; two brothers, Edwin L. Byrum of Carrsville and W. Ray Byrum of Edenton, N.C.; four grandchildren, William Joseph Harrison, Donald Jeffrey Byrum, Micki Lin Byrum and Christopher Allen Stephenson; two great- grandchildren, Mallorie Danielle Byrum and Kari Elizabeth Harrison. He was predeceased by eight sisters and a brother. A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Beaver Dam Baptist Church by the Dr. Rev. Richard Peerey. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive family and friends at Holland-Rideout Funeral Home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today.
