BROWN Charlie Benjamin Brown, 71*, died at 2:45 o'clock Thursday morning at his home near Windsor. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Annie Maud Holland Brown; five sons, Arthur, Frank L., Clarence Lee, Charlie B., Jr., George Robert Brown; four daughters, Misses Lucille, Ruth, Irene and Susie Mae Brown. Funeral services were conducted Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at Antioch Christian Church, by the Rev. H.C. Crutchfield. Burial was in the at Antioch Church cemetery. Charlie Benjamin BROWN, b. (Ancestry.com "Isle of Wight County Virginia Birth Records 1867-96") His mother seems to be the dt/o Benjamin Loach [Deloatch] & Catherine Butler [m. 1847, IoW.Co.]. Catherine appears in the 1860 Census, in household of {bro?} John B. Butler, with 3 ch, including M.A.E., age 8. M.E.J. Brown, age 19, appears with Charlie (2), in 1870, in Catherine's household. His widow 2m. 1948 widower Stephen "Joe" BRASWELL; she d. 23 Sep 1949, and was buried 26 Sep at Antioch (D.Cert. 20780 {#Windsor #13}); she is not marked, either. Joe is also buried there, with his first wife. Charlie, sn/o Jim & Pink, 1m. 16 Feb 1898 Mollie E. LEWIS, dt/o "Jerry" Jeremiah & M.A. [Indianna M.A. STEPHENSON, m. 1874, IoW.Co.] LEWIS; the clerk mistakenly listed them as colored. (IoW.Co. M.Reg. {BVS copy} 1898 p. 223 #22) She d. between Apr 1910 (Census) and 30 Jul 1913, when Charlie remarried.
