CHAPMAN Edgar W. Chapman, aged 68, died Saturday* at his home in Carrollton, Isle of Wight County. Surviving him are his wife, Josephine Chapman; two children, Mrs. Grace Purdie, of Smithfield, and George R. Chapman, of Norfolk; seven grandchildren, Mrs. Alton Wagner, James E. and Thelma Purdie, George R. Shelby, Raymond and Stanley Ray Chapman; a sister Mrs. Ida Warren of Newport News. Mr. Chapman was a member of the Red men's Lodge, White Swan Tribe No. 89. Funeral services were held at Whitehead Grove Baptist Church Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock conducted by the Rev. T.W. Page. Burial was in the church cemetery. The active pallbearers were: Allen Johnson, Clarence Chapman, Leon Chapman, Rosser Chapman, Ned Chapman, James Chapman, Leslie Edwards and Frank Chapman.
