Chapman, of Windsor, died at a local hospital at 9:30 last night. Death resulted from an illness of short duration. Surviving the boy are his parents and three sisters, Misses Mildred, Martha Louise and Lena Mae Chapman. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at Antioch Christian church, Isle of Wight county. The Rev. E.B. White will conduct the rites. Burial will be in the church cemetery. ****************************************************************************** FUNERALS JOHN F. CHAPMAN Funeral services for John Fletcher Chapman were held Friday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock at the Antioch Christian church conducted by the Rev. E.B. White. Members of the church choir sang the hymns "Safe In The Arms of Jesus" and "In The Sweet Bye and Bye." A solo, "Does Jesus Care?" was sung by Mrs. Homer Whitley. There were many handsome floral tributes, and a very large attendance. Active pallbearers were: Martin E. Whitley, Harvey Thorne, J.P. Bradshaw, Chester Holland, Mills Luter, S. Ray Turner, Raymond Rhodes, Ralph Johnson. Honorary pallbearers and flower bearers were his class-mates: Dorothy Joyner, Lois Robertson, Nora Atkins, Virgie Nelms, Virginia Wilson, Gladys Robertson, Marion Lee Holland, Fannie Butler, Gibson Luter, Eugene Robertson, Franklin Jones, David Games, William Rhodes, Elton Mumford [sic; Munford], Marion Jones. Interment was made in the church cemetery. ****************************************************************************** ISLE OF WIGHT Funeral services for Jack Chapman, 16-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. J.T. Chapman of Windsor, who died at Lakeview hospital Wednesday night at 9:30 o'clock were held Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at Antioch Christian church with the Rev. E.B. White conducting the rites. A solo "I Know He Cares," was sung by Mrs. Homer Whitley; "Abide With Me" and "Safe in the Arms of Jesus," were sung by the choir. The active pallbearers were: Mills Luter, J.P. Bradshaw, Harvey Thorne, Raymond Rhodes, Raleigh Johnson, S. Ray Turner and Martin Earl Whitley. Honorary pallbearers were: Misses Lois Robertson, Virginia Wilson, Virgie Nelms, Nora Atkins, Marian Lee Holland, Gladys Robertson, Fannie Butler and Dorothy Joyner, Messrs. Daniel Garnes, Franklin Jones, Elton Munford, Eugene Robertson, Gibson Luter and Marion Jones. Chapman, of Windsor, died Wed. night Sept. 26th at 9:30 o'clock at a Suffolk hospital after a brief illness.
