He was born in Isle of Wight County and was a retired farmer. He was a member of Antioch Congregational Christian Church and attended the men's Bible class. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Brown Chapman; two daughters, Mrs. Jack C. Arrington of Windsor and Mrs. Gerald E. Whitley of Franklin; a brother, Bernard Chapman of Portsmouth; and two grandchildren. The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. today in Purviance Funeral Chapel, Wakefield, by the Revs. V.I. Hunter and Conrad Cornelius. Burial will be in Windsor Cemetery.
