CHARLES LEONARD COFER

   SMITHFIELD - Funeral services for Charles Leonard Cofer, 63, will be held 
today at 11 a.m. in Colonial Funeral Home by the Revs. Warren F. Taylor of 
Smithfield Baptist Church and James A. Cales of Surry.  Burial will be in St. 
Lukes Memorial Park.

   Cofer died Tuesday in his home.

   He was a native in Isle of Wight County and a retired employee of the state 
of Virginia.  He was a member of Smithfield Baptist Church.

   He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II.  He was a member of George 
F. Dashiell American Legion Post 49.

   Survivors include his widow, Lucille Hollowell Cofer; a daughter Mona Cofer 
Wyatt of Courtland; and three grandchildren.
