MARY ELIZABETH BEALE COX

   Mrs. Mary E. Cox, widow of the late R.J. Cox and a well-known resident of 
Isle of Wight County, died Thursday, January 17, at her home in Walters after 
an illness of one week.  She was 74 years of age and had been in declining 
health for the past five years.

   She was a member of Mt. Carmel Christian Church from which the funeral 
services were held Friday afternoon at 3:00 by the Pastor, Rev. Mr. Harward 
of Windsor, assisted by Rev. R.D. Stephenson of Franklin.

   She is survived by four children: Mrs. Claude Holland, J.R. Cox and W.T. 
Cox of Walters and Mrs. Elmer A. Bradshaw of Franklin, and by one sister, Mrs. 
Mrs. W.H. Johnson of Suffolk.

   The body bearers were her nephews; W.E., J.E. and Guy Beale, Joe P. 
Johnson, Henry and Claude Johnson.  The honorary pallbearers were J.G. Duck, 
J.E. Ballard, R.H. Joyner and several other close friends of the family.
