Sidney Cox, 46, of Smithfield, and widely known in Norfolk and Suffolk was fatally injured Tuesday morning about 7:30 o'clock in an automobile accident on the Suffolk-Smithfield highway, just at the entrance into Smithfield, and died an hour later in the office of Dr. Rea Parker and Dr. Hugh Warren, of internal hemorrhage. He was rushed to the office of Dr. Parker, who was assisted by Dr. Hugh Warren in giving first aid but died within an hour. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Joyner Cox; a daughter Miss Mary Joyner Cox, who is a student at State Teachers College, Farmville; a son, R. Sidney Cox, Jr. , a brother, Herbert N. Cox of Newport News; two sisters, Mrs. T.J. Seward, of Smithfield, and Mrs. T.L. Lipscomb of Crewe; two uncles, R.S. Chapman, of Crewe, and W.R. Cox, of Smithfield.
