Cutchin, well-known citizen of our town and community, died at his home in Isle of Wight County Tuesday morning in his 64th year following a four-year illness. He was a native of Isle of Wight County with a large family connection in that county and in Franklin where Mr. Cutchin made his home for a number of years, spending his entire life in this town and community. He was a faithful and consistent member of the Franklin Baptist Church and of the Bruner Bible Class of that church, as an honorable and upright citizen numbered many friends. Mr. Cutchin had been a member of Franklin Lodge No. 51, Knights of Pythias, for a number of years in which he was active until failing health prevented his attendance. His wife, who before her marriage was Miss Mary Withy, daughter of the late Captain George H. Withy, died about six years ago, and he is survived by a son, Adolph Cutchin, Jr.; two daughters, Mrs. Herbert G. Cobb and Miss Lizzie Mae Cutchin; two brothers, Dr. Ashley P. Cutchin and Braxton M. Cutchin, and a sister, Mrs. William L. Cutchin. Funeral services were held from his late residence on the Franklin-Suffolk Highway Wednesday afternoon at 3 o’clock, conducted by his Pastor, Rev. R.D. Stephenson of the Franklin Baptist Church, assisted by Dr. M.A. MacLean of Lynchburg, a former pastor here. Burial was made in the family plot in Poplar Spring Cemetery, the pallbearers being: Clifford Cutchins, Ernest G. Evans, A.D. Smithwick, J.D. Johnson, Clarence Cobb, Will Rawls, J.R. Howell and W.J.M. Holland.
